Client Confidentiality

How we protect the identity and information of our clients, and how we describe our work in public. Last updated: October 2026.

We do not publicly name our clients. We share what we learn from our work, never who we learned it from.

What we protect

The identity of every client, and everything shared with us in confidence.

How we share our work

Case studies and examples, described in general terms, without naming the client.

What you can ask of us

A signed non-disclosure agreement, before you share anything sensitive.

1. Our commitment

We treat the identity of every client, and everything that a client or prospective client shares with us in confidence, as strictly confidential. We do not publicly disclose who our clients are, and we do not disclose the details of any engagement, unless the client has given us written permission.

This commitment applies from your first conversation with us, whether or not an engagement follows, and it continues after an engagement has ended.

2. What we treat as confidential

  • the fact that a business is, or has been, our client
  • the nature, scope and outcome of the work we do for a client
  • business plans, strategies, financial information, pricing, and customer and supplier information
  • documents, data, systems, product designs and prototypes shared with us
  • personal data about founders, employees and customers
  • our communications with a client

3. How we describe our work in public

We believe founders deserve to see how our work helps real businesses. We therefore publish case studies and examples of our work, but we do so without naming the client. Our published case studies:

  • do not name the client, its owners or its team
  • describe the industry, the stage of the business, the problem and our approach in general terms
  • leave out or generalise details that could identify the client, such as its brand, location, products, distinctive figures, images or logos
  • are based on real engagements, and where results are shown, they are results that the client has allowed us to share

We name a client only when that client has given us specific written permission to do so. The permission applies to the use described in it, and a client may withdraw it for future publications at any time. We do not present any client as endorsing us unless the client has said so in writing.

4. Why we do this

Protecting the identity of clients is a common and long-standing practice in professional services, including management consulting. Trust is the foundation of advisory work. A founder should be able to discuss a weak sales process, an unsolved operational problem or a difficult decision with an advisor, without worrying that the conversation will become public.

5. How we handle your information

  • Access is limited to the people who need it to deliver the services, and each of them is bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • We use your information only for the purpose for which you shared it.
  • We keep it using reasonable security safeguards.
  • We do not share it with third parties, other than service providers who support our work and are bound by confidentiality obligations, or where the law requires.
  • When we no longer need it, we return or delete it, subject to any legal or regulatory retention requirement.

6. Non-disclosure agreements

If you would like a non-disclosure agreement in place before you share sensitive information, we are glad to sign one. Please ask us before your first detailed conversation. Where we sign a confidentiality agreement with you, that agreement sets out the legally binding terms. If it differs from this statement, the signed agreement prevails.

This statement describes the confidentiality practices we follow in all our work.

7. When we may have to disclose information

We disclose confidential information only:

  • with the written consent of the client
  • where the law, a court order or a regulator requires it, in which case we will, where lawful, tell the client first
  • to our professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, who are bound by duties of confidentiality

Information that is already public through no fault of ours, or that we developed independently, is not treated as confidential information.

8. Our own methods and general learning

We use the general experience we gain across our work, such as methods, frameworks, templates and lessons, to help other founders. We never use or reveal a client's confidential information when we do so.

9. Questions, concerns and requests

If you are a client and believe that a published example could identify your business, or you would like something changed or removed, please write to us at hello@mycorporatebuddy.org. We will review your request promptly and correct or remove the content where appropriate.

If you would like to be named as a client, or to give a testimonial, we will agree the wording with you in writing before anything is published.

10. Related policies

This statement should be read together with our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.
